On 23 September 2024, over 300 students from the Faculty of Business (FOB) participated in the Cybersecurity Showcase 2024 at the Exam Hall, Melaka campus. This annual event, organised by FOB, aimed to explore innovative cybersecurity concepts and promote cybersecurity awareness among undergraduates.

The event featured students’ cybersecurity projects, supervised by their dedicated lecturers and tutors. It provided a platform for students to showcase their creativity, knowledge, and expertise in cybersecurity. Beyond presenting innovative ideas, the showcase also fostered essential skills such as teamwork, communication, perseverance, and problem-solving among the participants.

Dr. Siti Zakiah Bt Melatu Samsi, Dean of FOB, and Dr. Hasmida Bt Jamaluddin, Deputy Dean (Academic and Innovative Learning), officiated the event’s commencement, warmly welcoming two distinguished guests: Prof. Ts. Dr. Heng Swee Huay, Professor from the Faculty of Information Science and Technology (FIST), and Mr. Donovan Yap, Digital Marketing Manager (APAC), Big Dutchman Agriculture (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. Both Dr. Siti Zakiah and Dr. Hasmida highlighted the importance of the event and praised the students for their innovative cybersecurity contributions.

An engaging and interactive industrial talk titled “A New Era of Online Safety: How Governments and Platforms are Tackling Harmful Content” was delivered by Mr. Donovan Yap during the afternoon session. He shared valuable insights and led discussions that significantly enhanced the students’ understanding of the industry, particularly focusing on the latest initiatives by the Malaysian government and various platforms in addressing cybersecurity challenges.
