In October 2024, two representatives from the King Sejong Institute (KSI)- MMU Melaka embarked on an outreach visit to three schools in Melaka: Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Sungai Udang, SMK Tinggi Perempuan Melaka, and SMK St. David. The purpose of the visit was to introduce KSI MMU Melaka and its offerings, specifically its Korean language classes for both beginner and intermediate learners. Additionally, the team provided valuable information regarding the inclusion of the Korean language as an elective subject in the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination.
During the sessions, the representatives shared insights into the growing importance of learning the Korean language, especially in light of its increasing global relevance in business, culture, and education. They also highlighted the opportunities that KSI MMU Melaka provides to students who wish to enhance their language skills, including cultural immersion programs.
Currently, KSI MMU Melaka is conducting a regular Korean language class from 2 September to 14 December 2024, which is attended by students from these three schools and SMK Ayer Keroh. This program has sparked great interest among the students, who are eager to learn the language and explore the possibility of including it in their academic journey.
