The one-day invention exhibition, iNVENTX 2024, successfully concluded on 18 October 2024 at TMDA, MMU Cyberjaya. This year’s event attracted a total of 290 submissions, of which 95 projects were exhibited physically, along with 16 projects from iNVENTX Junior, showcasing the creativity and innovation of primary and secondary school students.

The event kicked off with an inspiring opening remark by Prof. Ir. Dr. Zulfadzli Yusoff, Director of the Research Management Centre (RMC), who emphasised the significance of MMU’s new seven Centres of Excellence (COEs). Dr. Sharlene Thiagarajah, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of TM R&D, officiated the event and lauded the increase in participation this year. During her tour, she engaged with the exhibitors, highlighting the innovative nature of their contributions.

In a fresh twist this year, iNVENTX Junior drew 800 young inventors, featuring side events like the Olympiad Mathematics Competition, Robotics Demonstration, and the Rubik’s Cube Challenge. This vibrant co-event offered visitors a glimpse into the future of innovation from our younger generation. Simultaneously, the iNVENTX Creative Exhibition, themed “SPACE: Emotion. Expression. Identity,” took place at the e-Gallery, Faculty of Creative Multimedia (FCM). Welcoming remarks were delivered by Ms. Nadia Mahmud, Dean of FCM, followed by a keynote speech from Tuan Tajalli Abdullah, an accomplished artist and founder of ‘DiKaki Gunung Raya Tower House.’ The event was officially launched by Dr. Sharlene Thiagarajah, with notable guests such as YBhg. Dato’ Kamil Othman, Chairman of FINAS, and Tuan Hassan Muthalib, the Father of Malaysian Animation, in attendance. The exhibition attracted numerous art collectors and industry enthusiasts, making it a significant highlight of the event.

The day concluded with a grand awards ceremony, where Top 5 projects, iNVENTX Junior winners, Best of the Best poster category, and gold winners from categories such as Computing & Informatics, Engineering & Industrial Design, Digital Creative & Cinematic Arts, Education & Social Science, and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) were recognised for their stellar achievements.

Awards were presented by Dr. Sufian Mitani, Head of the Academic Business Unit (ABU), Mr. Keng Chee Chan, General Manager of the TM R&D, Prof. Zulfadzli, Dr. Olivia Tan Swee Leng, Prof. Dr. Tan Siow Hooi, and 5 COE Directors from TM R&D including Ir. Dr. Abdul Aziz Bin Abdul Rahman, Dr. Hizamel Bin Mohd Hizan, Mr. Yeoh Chun Yeow, Mr. Mohamed Ashraf Bin Husni Zai, and Mr. Ahmad Hishamuddin Bin Muhamed.
