A talented group of students from the Faculty of Creative Multimedia (FCM)—Muhammad Faris Fiqran bin Muhamad, Shahd Ashraf Ahmed, Lim Wei Ying, and Qayyim Zamani—secured the top spot at the KL Edition Game Jam Laut 2024 on 29 September 2024. Their outstanding achievement was celebrated during the closing ceremony of SensARTS 2024 Ocean Game Jam (Game Jam Laut), where they were declared the winners. The team’s success was recognised with a prize of €1,000, which will support the further development of their game as they prepare to compete against finalists from Penang, Sarawak, and Terengganu in November.
The prize-giving ceremony was graced by Mr. Thierry d’Anna, Counsellor for Cooperation and Cultural Affairs of the French Embassy, and witnessed by Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mazliham Mohd Su’ud, President of MMU. The SensARTS 2024 Ocean Game Jam was organised by the French Embassy in Malaysia and held across four local editions—Kuala Lumpur, Terengganu, Sarawak, and Penang. For the Kuala Lumpur edition, the Embassy partnered with FCM, further strengthening the ties between the two institutions.
This 48-hour game jam brought together 13 participants from various higher education institutions and the industry. Among the participants were representatives from Universiti Malaya (UM), Xiamen University Malaysia (XMUM), Hitachi eBworx, Wau Animation, and MMU, fostering a vibrant and competitive atmosphere. The event offered an exceptional platform for creativity and collaboration, as participants worked tirelessly to develop innovative game concepts inspired by ocean conservation themes.
During the closing ceremony, Dr. Sy. Nurleyana Wafa Sy. Naguib Wafa, Deputy Dean of FCM, presented certificates to all participants, acknowledging their hard work, creativity, and dedication throughout the competition. Congratulations to the FCM team for their incredible win, and best of luck as they represent Kuala Lumpur in the upcoming Game Jam Laut Festival! Their creativity and hard work have set a great example for the competition ahead.
