Career Connect organised two enlightening visits to Public Bank Berhad and the UMobile Experience Centre on September 26 and September 28, 2024, respectively. During the first visit to Public Bank, students gained insights into the bank’s achievements, objectives, and career opportunities, presented by Mr. Ryan Ong, Assistant Manager in Talent Succession Management. He provided an in-depth overview of his role in combating money laundering and other financial crimes, emphasising the importance of financial security. Mr. Ong also highlighted the 997 national scam hotlines, educating students on its relevance in today’s financial landscape.
The students also benefited from a sharing session by Mr. Hakeem, Senior Case Manager Officer and Mr Ryan Chua, Assistant Manager, Fraud / Mule Prevention Team, where both MMU Permata Dunia graduated from the Faculty of Business (FOB). His session stressed the significance of vigilance against financial scams, particularly during fund transfers. Following the presentations, students enjoyed a guided tour of Public Bank’s premises, which included a visit to the memorial room honoring the bank’s founder, Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Dr. Teh Hong Piow. They were introduced to the bank’s exclusive “Red Carpet” VIP customer service, designed for elite clients.
The second visit took place at UMobile’s Experience Centre in Berjaya Times Square for UMobile Career Day, where students had the opportunity to gain invaluable career insights and learn about available job openings. Ms. Puteri Nadzirah from UMobile’s Talent Attraction team guided the group on a tour of the office, introducing them to various departments, including marketing, IT, and customer service. Additionally, Ms. Jamie Lim conducted a resume workshop, offering essential tips on crafting impressive resumes that stand out to potential employers.
Overall, these visits provided an enriching experience for all participants, equipping them with deeper insights into the banking and telecommunications industries while enhancing their career prospects.
