Wellness Sanctuary Expo 2024, a collaborative effort between the Cool and Relax Engagement (CaRE) and the Students’ Representative Council (SRC), took place at the Melaka campus from 3 to 5 September 2024. The event aimed to foster mental health awareness and women empowerment, providing a supportive environment for the university community.
The expo was inaugurated by YB Datuk Hajah Kalsom binti Nordin, the State Executive Council Member for Women, Family, and Community Development of Melaka. In her opening remarks, she emphasized the importance of mental well-being in today’s fast-paced world and commended MMU for taking proactive steps to address this critical issue. The event featured a diverse range of activities designed to educate and engage participants on various aspects of mental health.
Additionally, WCE 2024 placed a strong focus on women empowerment. The Empowering Women Today forum addressed the challenges and opportunities women face in the modern world. A talk on sexual harassment offered insights and strategies for prevention and support. Another key event was the Embracing Mental Health forum, where experts shared valuable perspectives on managing mental health and promoting emotional well-being.
Alongside the forums and talks, the expo hosted several exhibition booths providing resources and information on mental health services, support networks, and wellness practices. YB Datuk Hajah Kalsom visited these booths, engaging with exhibitors and expressing her appreciation for their efforts in raising awareness of mental health issues.
The MMU Wellness Sanctuary Expo 2024 successfully heightened awareness of mental health and women empowerment among the university community, encouraging students, staff, and visitors to prioritize their mental well-being. Through this initiative, MMU continues to lead by example, fostering a supportive and informed community dedicated to mental health advocacy.
