Multimedia University (MMU) proudly concluded its Independence and Malaysia Day celebrations with a spectacular Symphony Orchestra Concert, paying heartfelt tribute to Tun Dr. Siti Hasmah Mohamad Ali, the university’s first chancellor and beloved Ibu Universiti. The event was graced by distinguished guests, including Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad, Tun Dato’ Seri Zaki Tun Azmi, MMU’s current chancellor, Puan Sri Atom Yem, and Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mazliham Mohd Su’ud, MMU President, among other dignitaries.
The two-hour concert was a vibrant showcase of musical talent, highlighted by a special performance from Tun Dr. Siti Hasmah herself. Her presence and artistry brought an electrifying energy to the evening, emphasising the power of music to unite and uplift the MMU community. Conducted by Yang Mulia Raja Muzafar Shah Raja Abdullah, the event features a meticulously curated selection of classical and patriotic compositions performed by talented MMU students and invited guest players including Sekolah Seri Putri (SP Winds) and UiTM Orchestra players.
Adding to the excitement, the audience was captivated by a remarkable performance from Dato’ Khadijah Ibrahim as well as special appearance from our EBee Vocal singers and MMU Alumni talents. This celebration not only marked the spirit of national unity but also enriched the cultural tapestry of the university, perfectly aligning with the themes of National Month and Malaysia Day 2024.
This concert not only served as a tribute to Tun Dr. Siti Hasmah but also as a testament to MMU’s commitment to fostering artistic expression and community spirit. Jointly organised by Student Lifestyle & Experience (STyLE) together with the Siti Hasmah Symphony Orchestra Club, this event encapsulated the essence of unity and cultural pride, leaving a lasting impression on all who attended.
