Two students from MMU were selected to attend the Youth Executives Sustainability Summit (YESS) 2024, organised by the United Nations (UN) Global Compact Network, at the Asian International Arbitration Centre (AIAC), Kuala Lumpur, on 10 September 2024. Themed ‘Change Agents for a Forward Faster Sustainable Future,’ the conference was attended by Aw Jie Zhi from MMU Business Society (MUBS) and Tan Sze Min representing the IT Society.
Business leaders from various industries convened to address and discuss topics related to digitalization, innovation, and driving the sustainability of businesses through multiple panel sessions, alongside the sharing of research and data on sustainability. Throughout the summit, the Coordinator of Partnerships & Programmes from the UN Global Compact Network Malaysia & Brunei (UNGCMYB) presented the key findings of the Young Executives Sustainability PULSE Report.
The report featured crucial data on the progress of sustainability practices in Malaysia and enhanced leaders’ knowledge of approaches to building sustainable businesses while driving innovation in industries. The participation of MMU students showcased the university’s active role in global sustainability alongside industry leaders, gaining fresh perspectives and insights.
