Jeffrey Quek Shue Yew, a Master of Business Administration (MBA) student, represented Multimedia University (MMU) at the Asia Youth International Model United Nations (AYIMUN) 2024, held virtually from August 24 to 25, 2024. AYIMUN, one of Asia’s largest Model United Nations (MUN) conferences, serves as a prestigious platform for young leaders and changemakers from around the globe.
Organised annually, the conference brings together participants to engage in diplomatic simulations of United Nations meetings, where delegates debate pressing global issues, negotiate with allies and adversaries, and draft resolutions aimed at promoting peace and development. AYIMUN offers a unique opportunity for youth to develop critical thinking, public speaking, diplomacy, and leadership skills.
During this two-day event, Jeffrey demonstrated exceptional skills in negotiation, policy analysis, and public speaking. His representation underscored the importance of youth involvement in addressing international issues.
This year’s conference revolved around the theme “Empowering Youth: The Catalyst for Global Change,” highlighting the crucial role young people play in shaping a sustainable and equitable future. Delegates from various countries discussed a range of topics, including global health, human rights, climate change, and education. The event featured keynote speeches from esteemed diplomats, interactive sessions, and workshops aimed at enhancing diplomatic skills.
Jeffrey’s participation in AYIMUN 2024 has undoubtedly contributed to the university’s growing reputation for academic excellence and leadership in producing graduates who are well-prepared for both the complexities of the business world and roles as global citizens.
Well done!
