The Engineering Society organised a visit to TS Global Network Sdn. Bhd. (TSGN) on 28 August 2024. A total of 20 students from the Faculty of Engineering (FOE), along with their accompanying lecturer, Dr. Foo Yee Loo, had the opportunity to delve into the world of satellite communications.
The visit provided a comprehensive overview of TSGN’s operations and technological innovations. It began with a detailed briefing on the company’s history and its pivotal role in the telecommunications and satellite industry. Established in 1996, TSGN has grown into a leading system integrator and service provider, with over 100 years of collective experience in satellite technology.
The students also had the chance to tour TSGN’s state-of-the-art data centers and visit the Network Operation Room at TSGI Cyberport, gaining valuable insights into network management and satellite equipment. TSGN officers offered valuable advice to students interested in networking and Cisco equipment, further enhancing the educational experience of the visit. A highlight of the tour was a demonstration of Starlink by SpaceX, showcasing the latest advancements in satellite internet technology.
Special thanks are extended to TSGN officers, namely Mr. Syed, Ms. Ain, and Mr. Kumar, for their warm hospitality and insightful sessions. The visit not only provided a practical look at real-world business practices but also allowed students to engage with industry experts.
