A group of students from the Faculty of Information Science and Technology (FIST)—Mohammad Amin Bin Ayob, Muhammad Ariff Ridzlan Bin Mohd Faudzi, Muhammad Fadhil Fahmi Bin Zulkifli, and Tan Sze Min, competing as Team N3WBEES—represented Multimedia University (MMU) at the Code Combat x iHACK 2024 competition. Mentored by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ooi Shih Yin, the team secured seventh place and earned a cash prize of RM600 during the prize-giving ceremony held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) on 8 August 2024.

The competition drew over 100 participants from universities across Malaysia, including Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia (UPNM), Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology (TAR UMT), Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR), Universiti Selangor (UNISEL), Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTEM), and Universiti Malaya (UM).

Participants encountered a rigorous blend of virtual and physical challenges. The preliminary round featured a jeopardy-style Capture the Flag (CTF) format, testing their cybersecurity acumen. In the semi-finals, teams employed both offensive and defensive tactics, attacking rival servers while defending their own. The competition culminated in a high-stakes, time-sensitive final round where speed and technical skill were crucial.

Organized by Kolej Pengajian Pengkomputeran, Informatik dan Matematik (KPPIM) at UiTM, the event was a collaborative effort with the Malaysian Armed Forces’ Defense Cyber and Electromagnetic Division (BSEP). It also received strong support from the National Cyber Security Agency (NACSA) and CyberSecurity Malaysia (CSM), with TM One Malaysia as a key sponsor. The competition also received recognition from the Malaysia Book of Records (MBR) as the organizer of the largest Code Combat vs. iHACK hacking competition for the year 2024.

Congratulations to Team N3WBEES!
