26 students from Multimedia University (MMU) had the exciting opportunity to attend a workshop on Generative AI and Prompt Engineering at the headquarters of Cognizant on 22 August 2024. This event, organised by MMU Career Connect in collaboration with InvestKL, aimed to deepen students’ understanding of AI technologies and their applications in real-world scenarios. The students were accompanied by the MMU Career Connect team, who facilitated the experience and ensured that the participants gained valuable insights from the workshop.
The event commenced with an opening speech delivered by the Head of the Regional Office at Cognizant Malaysia. In his address, he emphasised the growing significance of AI and its transformative impact on various industries. He also highlighted Cognizant’s commitment to fostering innovation and supporting the next generation of tech leaders through educational initiatives and partnerships with academic institutions.
Following the opening remarks, the students were divided into groups for a hands-on session on Generative AI and Prompt Engineering. Each group was assigned a specific topic and tasked with using AI tools to generate insightful information based on their given prompts. The discussions were lively and collaborative, as students applied their theoretical knowledge to practical scenarios, exploring how AI can be leveraged to solve real-world problems and create innovative solutions.
After the group discussions, each team presented their findings and AI-generated content to the audience. The presentations demonstrated the students’ creativity and understanding of prompt engineering techniques, showcasing how AI can be used to generate relevant and impactful information. An evaluator, appointed by Cognizant, provided constructive feedback on each presentation, offering insights on how to enhance the use of AI in generating accurate and effective responses. The evaluator’s comments were highly valuable, encouraging students to think critically about the ethical implications and potential challenges of using AI in different contexts.
The session concluded by the Managing Director of Cognizant Malaysia, Mr Azli Jamil. This interactive segment allowed participants to delve deeper into the intricacies of AI and explore future career opportunities in the field and providing MMU students with a rich learning experience that combined theoretical knowledge with practical application.
