On 21 August 2024, Multimedia University (MMU) celebrated its top researchers at an appreciation and award ceremony held at Persada Permata Dunia, Melaka campus. The event was graced by Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mazliham Mohd Su’ud, President of MMU, who delivered an inspiring congratulatory speech to the award recipients.
The ceremony commenced with the recognition of the 2023 World’s Top 2% Scientists, as identified by Stanford University. The three honourees were Prof. Ir. Dr. Tso Chih Ping, Prof. Dr. Solarin Sakiru Adebola, and Asst. Prof. Umar Nirmal, who were celebrated for their exceptional contributions to their respective fields.
In addition to this prestigious recognition, the ceremony honored the authors of the Top 1% SCOPUS indexed journals, the Top 10 authors with the most number of papers in the Top 10% SCOPUS indexed journals, and the leading SCOPUS Researchers by Faculty. For MMU Press, two recognitions were celebrated: the achievement of the International Journal of Management, Finance, and Accounting (IJOMFA) in securing the journal’s indexation by the ASEAN Citation Index (ACI), and the timely publication of the Journal of Communication, Language and Culture (JCLC) and the Issues and Perspectives in Business and Social Sciences (IPBSS).
The Innovation Award category recognised the remarkable achievements of researchers who successfully filed intellectual property (IP) applications, highlighting MMU’s commitment to fostering innovation. The final segment of the ceremony celebrated the Top 3 MMU Publication Reward recipients for the first half of 2024, acknowledging their outstanding scholarly output which were awarded to Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mazliham Mohd Su’ud, Prof. Dr. Solarin Sakiru Adebola and Prof. Dr. Md. Shabiul Islam. The event also took a moment to celebrate the success of the Digital Futures International Congress (DIFCON), which was completed in July 2024, marking another significant achievement for MMU.
Among the attendees were Prof. Dr. Wong Eng Kiong, Vice President of Student Experience & Entrepreneurship Development and Melaka Campus Director; Ms. Nor Adni Ismail, Vice President of Finance & Business Ventures (VP F&BV); Directors of Centres for Excellence; Directors of the Research Management Centre (RMC); MMU Press and Technology Transfer Office (TTO); along with the distinguished MMU researchers who have published in various SCOPUS-indexed journals (Jan-June 2024), MMUPress journals, project leaders of newly secured external grants, and medalists and winners of various international exhibitions..
