A group of students from Multimedia University (MMU) and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), known as ‘Meta Knight,’ won third prize at the Astro-NACSA Coding Challenge 2024 on 30 July 2024. The team, supervised by Dr. Goh Vik Tor from the Faculty of Engineering (FOE), comprised Law Yi Yang, Chan Hao Sien, Leo Adriano Richard, and Janot Hia Heng (UTM). They received their prize from YB Gobind Singh Deo, the Minister of Digital, at the Cybersecurity Summit held at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre.

The team was named among the top 5 finalists out of 250 participants/submissions/teams, competing alongside teams from Sunway University, Universiti Utara Malaysia, Peninsula College, and Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah.The challenge tasked participants with developing robust mobile applications to detect and report malware, phishing, and illicit video streaming activities. Jointly organised by Astro and the National Cyber Security Agency (NACSA), with support from the Department of Higher Education, this challenge aims to enhance cybersecurity measures in Malaysia’s digital landscape.
