Dr. Susan Chin from the Faculty of Business (FOB) conducted two enlightening talks at Peringgit Auto Sdn Bhd, Persimpangan Batu Hampar, Melaka, on 10 and 11 July 2024. These sessions were part of a community outreach project aimed at raising awareness about how individuals approach matters differently.
Drawing on the Coloured Brain psychometric model by Arthur Carmazzi, Dr. Susan introduced participants to the concept of “genetic neuro-processing.” This model classifies individuals based on how they experience their environment, process information, and interpret situations. Understanding these classifications helps explain specific ways people perceive and evaluate situations.
Dr. Susan also emphasised the importance of recognising the “colour” of our brains, which allows us to maximise our capacity for intelligent action. By understanding our natural cognitive preferences, we can enhance our abilities, develop mental “software,” and achieve greater competence across various disciplines.
These talks enabled participants to deepen their understanding of others, unlocking greater potential for relationships at work and home. They learned how to foster easier learning and teaching, and how to create harmony and cooperation within their teams and environments.
Effective communication techniques, such as mindful listening, appreciative inquiry, and body language, were also discussed to further enhance interpersonal interactions. At the conclusion of the sessions, participants expressed enthusiastic feedback, highlighting how these engaging and insightful discussions significantly contributed to their personal development journey.
