On 9 July 2024, an informative and engaging event, the Technology Transfer Outreach to Academia Forum, was held at the Shangri-La Hotel in Kuala Lumpur. The event was hosted by the Malaysia Strategic Trade Control Community (MYSTCC) with the support of Multimedia University (MMU), the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI), and the Export Control and Border Security Program (EXBS) of the Bureau of International Security and Nonproliferation (ISN) at the U.S. Department of State (DOS). 

Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mazliham Mohd Su’ud, President of MMU, delivered a welcoming address to distinguished guests, partners, and participants. He emphasised the importance of safe research practices and regulated intangible technology transfers, highlighting their crucial role in unlocking new possibilities and driving progress across various sectors, including healthcare, education, and sustainability. The forum featured meaningful discussions, shared insights, and fostered collaboration towards a future where intangible technology transfer and research outreach are synonymous with progress and safety. 

The event was graced by notable attendees, including Mr. Cheah Hup Lim, President of MYSTCC and Director of Government Relations at Keysight Technologies Malaysia Sdn Bhd; Ms. Azrilah Abdul Aziz, Deputy Strategic Trade Controller at the Strategic Trade Secretariat (MITI); En Ahmad Fuzli Fuad, Vice President of MYSTCC and Chief Executive Officer of SME Aerospace Sdn Bhd, Mr. Lewis Pyrtle, Regional Advisor for EXBS alongside with MMU team namely Ms. Nor Adni Ismail, Vice President of Finance & Business Ventures, Ms. Hayati Othman, Senior Director of Human Capital Management, Dr. Syed Sham Syed Ja’afar, General Manager of Support Service, Ms. Nur Azurah Rezo, Academic Registrar, Dr. Olivia Tan Swee Leng, Director of TTO; Dr. Sufian Mitani from TM R&D and other esteemed officers. 

The Technology Transfer Outreach to Academia Forum served as a platform for industry leaders, academics, and policymakers to engage in critical conversations about the future of technology transfer, ensuring it remains a driver of innovation and safety.
