A student from the Faculty of Management (FOM), Ong Yong Xun, has been awarded the National Accounting Student Excellence Award (NASEA), formerly known as the Best Accounting Student Award, for 2023 by the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA). The award was presented at the MIA International Accountants Conference (MIAC) 2024 in June 2024.
The prestigious event took place at the Plenary Hall, Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. Yong Xun was selected as one of the 17 recipients due to his exceptional performance in both academics and extracurricular activities. The award was presented by the honourable Dato’ Seri Dr. Mohamad Zabidi Ahmad, MIA President, and Dr. Wan Ahmad Rudirman Wan Razak, MIA CEO. Yong Xun received a plaque, a certificate, a cash prize sponsored by MIA, and special fee waivers.
In addition to these rewards, Yong Xun was one of only three students among the finalists invited for an exclusive MIA media interview, where he discussed how he manages his schedule as a student and his other achievements.
