We are pleased to share the recent achievements of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) from the Faculty of Engineering (FOE), who clinched three prestigious awards at the IEEE Inspiration Night Dinner 2024, held on 6 July 2024 at Le Méridien, Putrajaya.
The awards received include the 2023 IEEE Malaysia Outstanding Student Volunteer Award, conferred to Muhammad Asif Shaik Safaruddin, the 2023 IEEE Malaysia Outstanding Student Branch Award, recognizing the exemplary activities of the IEEE MMU Student Branch throughout 2023, and the 2023 IEEE Malaysia Educational Activities Award, awarded to Hannah Sofea Roslee and Muhammad Asif for their exceptional Arduino Youth Exhibit. These accolades are a testament to the hard work and extraordinary initiatives organised by the IEEE MMU Student Branch, distinguishing them as the best in Malaysia and outperforming other student branches from prominent universities across the nation.
The evening also celebrated the achievements of two esteemed FOE academic staff members, who led their respective chapters to victory. Prof. Dr. Mohamad Yusoff Alias, Chair of the IEEE Malaysia Communication Society and Vehicular Technology Society Joint Chapter, won the 2023 IEEE Malaysia Outstanding Large Chapter Award, while Prof. Ir. Hezerul Abdul Karim, Chair of the IEEE Signal Processing Malaysian Chapter, won the 2023 IEEE Malaysia Outstanding Medium Chapter Award.
The IEEE Inspiration Night Dinner is an annual event organised by the IEEE Malaysia Section, dedicated to celebrating excellence, recognising achievements, and fostering networking opportunities. This year’s theme, “Engineering Excellence Night: A Symphony of Collaboration and Innovation,” highlighted the collaborative spirit and innovative prowess of the engineering community. The event was graced by the presence of YB Tuan Haji Akmal Nasrullah, Deputy Minister for Energy Transition and Water Transformation.
