Multimedia University (MMU) proudly returned with the fourth edition of the Digital Futures International Congress (DIFCON) from 23 – 25 July 2024. This three-day virtual conference attracted an impressive 610 submissions, of which 491 papers were accepted, showcasing cutting-edge research from 40 countries across the globe.

The launch of DIFCON 2024 was graced by MMU President, Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mazliham Mohd Su’ud, alongside distinguished guests Mr. Ian Jones, Vice President and Commercial Lead for Asia Pacific at Taylor & Francis, and Ms. Sharlene Thiagarajah, CEO of TM R&D.

A highlight of the DIFCON launching ceremony was the signing of a Publication Agreement between MMU and Taylor & Francis, renowned for their high-quality publishing services. The agreement was signed by Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mazliham Mohd Su’ud and Mr. Ian Jones, signifying a strategic partnership that promises to enhance the dissemination of research presented at the conference. This partnership will allow selected papers to be published in indexed journals, ensuring their lasting impact and contribution to the academic community.

DIFCON 2024 featured six co-located conferences, each providing a platform for in-depth discussions and knowledge exchange. These conferences included:

  1. International Conference on Computer, Information Technology and Intelligent Computing (CITIC)
  2. Multimedia University Engineering Conference (MECON)
  3. International Conference on Technology & Innovation Management (ICTIM)
  4. International Conference on Creative Multimedia (ICCM)
  5. International Conference on Communication, Language, Education and Social Sciences (CLESS)
  6. International Conference on Law and Digitalization (ICLD)

Themed “Intelligence for Sustainable Futures: A Journey towards Society 5.0,” the congress highlighted the role of technology and innovation in creating sustainable futures. Participants benefited from insightful online seminars on research and publication, enriching their academic and professional knowledge.

This year’s co-organisers and supporting partners included esteemed institutions such as Telkom University (Indonesia), Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology (TAR UMT), Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP), Canadian University Dubai (UAE), Ciputra University (Indonesia), Pan-European University (PEU), Universidad Siglo 21 (Argentina), Pakuan University (Indonesia), Polytechnic University of the Philippines, Universitas Cordoba (Indonesia), and Universitas Pelita Bangsa (Indonesia).

Prominent speakers were invited to share their expertise, making the conference a rewarding experience for all attendees. The successful organisation of DIFCON 2024 is a testament to MMU’s commitment to fostering global academic collaboration and innovation.
