Multimedia University (MMU) and Oman Telecommunications Company (Omantel) entered into two Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) during ceremonies on 6 June 2024. In the first event which was held TM R&D, Dr. Sharlene Thiagarajah, CEO of TM R&D, and Shaikh Talal Said Al Mamari, Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) of Omantel, signed the agreement. The signing was witnessed by Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mazliham Mohd Su’ud, President of MMU and Chairman of TM R&D. As the leading provider of integrated telecommunication solutions in Oman, Omantel’s collaboration with TM R&D will focus on advancing next-generation communications (5G/6G), IoT, and data center services.
The second MoU signing ceremony was held at the Cyberjaya campus, where the pact was signed by Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mazliham Mohd Su’ud, President of MMU and Shaikh Talal Said Al Mamari, GCEO of Omantel. This cooperation will strengthen the academic-industry partnership through collaborative efforts and engagements between the two parties. This new alliance between MMU and Omantel is poised to make substantial contributions to the academic and technological landscape, benefiting both entities and the broader industry.
Also attending the event were Prof. Ir. Dr. Wong Hin Yong, Vice President of Academic and Innovative Learning (VP AIR), Ms. Nor Adni Ismail, Vice President of Finance and Business Ventures, Prof. Ir. Dr. Hairul Azhar Abdul Rashid, Vice President of Market Exploration, Engagement and Touchpoint (VP MEET), faculty deans and representatives.
