The Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) and CNERGY, the commercial arm of MMU, launched the #CikguJuaraDigital initiative to equip Malaysian educators with Big Data skills. This program includes comprehensive training and culminates in the ICDL Insight: Big Data certification exam.
Professors Ts. Dr. Ting Choo Yee and Ir. Associate Professor Dr. Goh Vik Tor from MMU led a two-day training session at the Ibis Hotel in Kuala Lumpur on 10-12 June 2024. The initiative aims to enhance the digital literacy and data proficiency of teachers, preparing them to use Big Data in educational settings.
#CikguJuaraDigital is designed to close the digital skills gap among educators, ensuring they can prepare students for a data-driven future. MDEC, leading Malaysia’s digital transformation, partnered with CNERGY to provide high-quality, tailored training for teachers. The programme is inclusive, allowing educators from all parts of Malaysia, including rural areas, to participate, promoting educational equity.
The program’s impact is expected to be significant. By training teachers in Big Data, it enhances their professional development and improves student learning experiences. Teachers can use data insights to tailor their teaching and support students better, creating a more personalised learning environment.
MDEC and CNERGY plan to expand the program with more advanced topics and ongoing support, aiming to build a community of digitally proficient educators. The #CikguJuaraDigital initiative marks a significant step in the professional development of Malaysian teachers, empowering them to use data in the classroom and better preparing students for the digital age.
