On 30 May 2024, a group of 36 international students from the English Proficiency Programme (EPP) and five lecturers set out on an enlightening educational trip to Melaka. The group, consisting of 28 students and three lecturers from the Cyberjaya campus, arrived in Melaka, where they were warmly greeted by eight students and two lecturers from the Melaka campus.
Their first destination was Bukit Melaka, a fascinating hill rich in Portuguese and Dutch history. The students were enthralled by the remnants of Portuguese architecture and the breathtaking views from the hill. The impressive Melaka Sultanate Palace Museum also captured their interest, as they eagerly took photos to commemorate their visit to this majestic site.
Next, the group ventured to the bustling Jonker Street and the iconic Stadthuys, also known as the Red Square. The colonial-era architecture and vibrant atmosphere of these locations offered a glimpse into Melaka’s rich historical and cultural heritage.
For the students from Cyberjaya, the trip was further enriched by their first visit to the MMU Melaka campus. They were warmly welcomed into the campus community and had the opportunity to observe the educational environment their Melaka peers enjoy. The visit included a delightful lunch at the CLC Concourse and a prayer break at Masjid Al-Irsyad.
Rejuvenated, the group headed to their final destination: the Turtle Conservation and Information Centre in Masjid Tanah, Melaka. Here, they learned about vital conservation efforts aimed at protecting these magnificent creatures. The students were excited to observe turtles of various sizes and ages while gaining a deeper understanding of the importance of environmental conservation.
Before concluding their trip, the students took some time to relax and enjoy the natural beauty of Padang Kemunting beach. The picturesque shoreline provided a perfect setting for reflection and camaraderie, creating lasting memories for all involved. The group departed from Masjid Tanah, wrapping up a successful and enriching journey.
