Telekom Research & Development Sdn Bhd or (“TM R&D”), MMU’s research arm hosted its fifth industry gathering, forum and solution showcase focusing on the pivotal theme, “Transformative opportunities with AI everywhere” on 29 May 2024 in Cyberjaya. The event was graced by the presence of Dato’ Zainal Abidin Putih, Chairman of Telekom Malaysia (TM) with Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mazliham Mohd Su’ud, President of MMU, who is also Chairman of TM R&D and Dr Sharlene Thiagarajah, Chief Executive Officer of TM R&D.
For this year, Dato’ Sri Idris Jala, President and Chairman of PEMANDU Associates was invited as the keynote speaker on the topic of transformative leadership in a digital world. This edition of TM R&D’s Tech Mocktail series follows recent announcements of major global companies and the Malaysian government investing in AI infrastructure. Key topics included brokering AI deals, policies to attract global talent while building local digital skills and responsible AI in governance and cybersecurity. The event also saw a robust panel raising views around the future and pressure from financial, political and community to preserve the status quo or to monetise the technology for greater returns.
