Team “All-Knighters” from Multimedia University (MMU) secured a Top 5 ranking at the UM Game Jam 2024. The team, comprising Mohamad Razlan Nazmi Ramli, Adam Zikry Mohd Aris, and Najmuddin Thijs Hovenkamp, all Bachelor of Computer Science (Hons.) students specialising in Game Development, competed against 15 teams from various universities from 10 until 12 May 2024 at Pusat Asasi Sains Universiti Malaya (PASUM).
Under the mentorship of Mr. Albert Quek, the team prepared intensively for the competition, where they were tasked with crafting a game centered around mutual deception between player and game, titled ‘Twister Trust’. Organised by Persatuan Komputer Universiti Malaya (PEKOM), the competition challenged participants to create a video game based on the theme “The Game is a Liar” for this year.
The participating teams had less than three days to conceptualise and develop their games, culminating in a final pitching session on 12 May 2024. The panel of judges, including representatives from Larian Studios, the creators of ‘Baldur’s Gate III’, evaluated the games based on creativity, mechanics, and visual appeal.
The MMU team impressed the judges with their innovative approach and technical execution, earning them a spot in the top ranks of this competition. Their success not only highlights the individual talents of MMU students but also exemplifies MMU’s dedication to providing its students with opportunities to excel in competitive and creative environments.
