A delegation of 12 students representing IEEE MMU Student Branch, the Engineering Society, and the Faculty of Management (FOM) attended the International Regulatory Conference held at St. Regis Kuala Lumpur from 6 to 7 May 2024. Accompanied by Ts. Dr. Lilian A/P Anthonysamy, an esteemed academic staff member from FOM, the students participated in this prestigious event organised by the Malaysian Communications & Multimedia Commission (MCMC).
The conference was graced by the presence of YB Fahmi Fadzil, the Minister of Communication, and brought together regulators and industry experts from across the globe. It served as a platform for robust discussions on various topics including innovations, emerging technologies, regulatory frameworks, and approaches in the communications and multimedia industry.
Throughout the conference, attendees engaged in enlightening discussions surrounding key topics such as artificial intelligence (AI), 5G technology, cybersecurity, digital economy, internet safety, privacy, and policymaking. The event aimed to provide valuable insights into the latest regulatory frameworks, particularly focusing on cybersecurity in Malaysia and the enactment of stronger child protection laws.
Overall, the conference provided an enriching experience for the students, fostering a deeper understanding of the evolving landscape of regulatory practices in the communications and multimedia sector.
