Jason Liew Zhi Sheng, our student from the Faculty of Business (FOB), has won the Bronze Award at the prestigious International Industrial Revolution 4.0 Exposition (IREX 2024), held on 20 May 2024. Organised by Universiti Teknologi MARA Kedah Branch, the event saw participation from 128 students and teams across five countries. Unlike most competitors, Jason faced the challenge solo, adding an extra layer of excitement to his achievement.
Jason’s award-winning entry, SEMAI (Smart Electronic Monitoring & Agricultural Invention), is a groundbreaking solution designed to revolutionise agriculture and combat poverty in Malaysia. SEMAI leverages advanced technology to optimize agricultural practices and empower local farmers, demonstrating the profound impact of innovative thinking. The concept for SEMAI was inspired by one of his previous courses, BGO 3124 Global Operations Management.
Guided by his mentor, Dr. Tan Pei Kian, Jason’s dedication and creativity have earned him international acclaim. His success underscores the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration and innovation in tackling critical societal issues.
