A group of students from the Faculty of Information Science and Technology (FIST), known as Team LetItGrow, clinched the fifth place and received a cash prize of RM2,000 at the Varsity Hackathon 2024 held in Penang on 24 April 2024. Organised by the CS Computer Society of Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), this competition drew participation from over 900 individuals forming more than 250 teams across 20 countries.
Amidst fierce competition, participants from around the world showcased their innovative solutions and technical prowess. Despite the challenging environment, Team LetItGrow distinguished themselves with exceptional innovation and skill, securing a coveted top spot and bringing honour to our institution.
Led by Tan Szu Jean, Team LetItGrow members Tey Wei Zheng, David Chew Hong Liang, and Yeong Chiau Wen showcased remarkable dedication, creativity, and hard work. Their achievement not only reflects the high standards of education and student excellence upheld at FIST but also underscores our commitment to nurturing competitive and innovative thinkers.
As Team LetItGrow returns from the hackathon, they bring not only a trophy but also the pride and recognition of being among the best in the realm of technology and innovation.
