The Centre for Alumni (CfA) recently hosted a compelling series titled “Permata Dunia Returns,” providing an invaluable platform for esteemed alumni to impart their industry wisdom to current students. The series, a collaboration between the Centre for Alumni, Career Connect, and various faculties, aimed to bridge the gap between academia and real-world applications, offering students invaluable insights into their future careers.
The first session featured Ms. Rafeidah Mohamed R’A, a distinguished alumna from the class of 2008 at the Faculty of Computing and Informatics (FCI) on 22 April 2024. As the Project Manager/CX Consultant at VLAN Asia, Ms. Rafeidah shared her enriching journey and provided essential tips to diploma students on “Charting Your Tech Journey: Empowering Diploma Students for Future Success.” Her session, attended by 80 students, illuminated the path towards success in the dynamic field of technology.
Following Ms. Rafeidah’s insightful session, the series continued with Mr. Andrian Lim Hiap Hong, an accomplished alumnus from the Faculty of Engineering (FOE) class of 2006 on 24 April 2024. Mr. Lim, currently serving as the Assistant General Manager at Telekom Malaysia, delved into the critical topic of “Risk Management in Telecommunications Projects.” With a focus on project management methodologies and strategies, Mr. Lim provided students with invaluable insights into navigating the intricacies of the telecommunications industry.
In a thought-provoking session held at the Melaka Campus, Mr. Chang Quan Yan, a distinguished alumnus from the Faculty of Information Science and Technology (FIST) class of 2015, shared his expertise on “How 5G Will Impact the Future Work.” As the world transitions into the era of 5G technology, Mr. Chang’s session shed light on the transformative potential of 5G and its implications for future workplaces. His discussion on the integration of 5G with IoT and its potential to enhance energy efficiency resonated deeply with the audience.
