In a stunning victory, Multimedia University (MMU) secured the Best Institution Award at the prestigious Anugerah Keusahawanan Kementerian Pengajian Tinggi (AKKPT) 2023 in Kuala Lumpur last night. Awarded by the Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE), this accolade signifies MMU as the Best Entrepreneurship University. Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mazliham Mohd Su’ud, President of MMU received the plaque and mock cheque from YB Senator Dato’ Seri Diraja Dr. Zambry Abdul Kadir, Minister of Higher Education. Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) also shared the honours and as joint winners with MMU, both universities split the RM250,000 grand prize equally.
On top of that, our students and staff also received other awards at the same ceremony. A team of MMU students clinched the first place in the Special Category: Best Technology Student Project- AR/VR. Irfan Samrizan Samsuri, Nur Aina Zayani Yusaini, Haris Zaid and Siti Arina Sahul Hameed brought home RM10,000 for their project, “Johor through the Eyes of an Artist”. While, Ong Yong Xun, the founder of JomStudy won the third place in the Special Category: Best Student Startup Company and took home RM7,000.
In another category, Ms. Putri Syaidatul Akma Mohd Adzmi, Deputy Director of Alumni Engagement, Career and Entrepreneurship Development (ACED) secured the third place for the Best Mentor Award and received RM7,000.
Held every two years, the AKKPT recognises the initiative of Higher Education Institutions in entrepreneurial development and education. The award ceremony was also attended by Prof. Dr. Wong Eng Kiong, Vice President of Student Experience and Entrepreneurship Development (SEED), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ong Jeen Wei, Director of ACED and MMU staff. These achievements denote the university’s commitment in cultivating the entrepreneurial spirit and skills amongst its community.
