The Faculty of Engineering and Technology (FET) brought together academia and industry at the Industrial Advisory Panel (IAP) Visit 2023 on 24 January 2024. With Dean Assoc. Prof. Ir. Ts. Dr. Ng Poh Kiat and Deputy Deans Ts. Dr. Yeo Boon Chin, Prof. Ir. Ts. Dr. Chan Yee Kit, and Dr. Liew Kia Wai leading the way, the session flowed smoothly through a packed agenda.
The highlight of the day was the FET Industry Forum, themed “Fostering Collaboration and Innovation: Bridging Academia with Industry Excellence.” Moderated by Dr. Em Poh Ping, the forum boasted industry leaders, including Senior Project Engineer Mr. Lim Kian En from Sulzer Singapore, Deputy Chief Engineer Ir. Goh Su Kin from Prosper Capital Holdings Sdn. Bhd., Chief Operating Officer Mr. Syahril bin M. Azmi of Honda Assembly (Malaysia), Vice President of Technical Services Dr. Diong Kah Seng from ZTE Malaysia, Chief Executive Officer Mr. Muslim Abdullah Zaik of Aeronerve, Director and Co-founder Mr. Goh Ser Heng of Bodibasixs Manufacturing, Deputy General Manager Dr. Chin Wai Meng from Daikin Research & Development Malaysia Sdn. Bhd., and Quality Assurance Manager Mr. Lai Jock from ON Semiconductor (M) Sdn. Bhd.
The dynamic panel delved into discussions about effective collaboration, the impact of technological advancements, and the essential skills graduates need. This interactive dialogue aimed to strengthen the relationship between academia and industry, aligning education with the practical needs of the real world.
