FOM Students Get a Glimpse into the Launch of “AI untuk Rakyat” Programme

On 16 January 2024, a total of 30 students from the Faculty of Management actively participated in an event, Majlis Pelancaran AI Untuk Rakyat at the Pusat Kebudayaan dan Kesenian Sultan Salehhuddin Abdul Aziz Shah, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). The students were accompanied by its Dean, Ts. Dr. Low Jing Hong, Ms. Norzarina Yatim and Ms. Putri Nurul ‘Aainaa Rusli.  

 The occasion marked the collaboration between Kementerian Ekonomi and MyDIGITAL Corporation, in partnership with Intel Malaysia, to introduce the “AI untuk Rakyat” Program – a self-learning online platform designed to enhance digital skills, which was graced by the Prime Minister, YAB Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. 

On top of that, our final year students from the Faculty of Computing and Informatics (FCI) supervised by Dr. Ng Kok Why and a Master’s student supervised by Dr. Aziah Ali  also opened up a booth during the event, displaying their projects including Mobile Application for Retinal Image Analysis, UniCab, Quickgrade- Automatic Exam Paper Grading System and Facial Recognition- Attendance System. 

 Our students’ presence demonstrated the commitment of the academic community to stay abreast of technological advancements and equip students with the necessary skills for the digital era. This program is specifically crafted to raise awareness among the public, particularly higher education students, about Artificial Intelligence (AI). Additionally, it aims to facilitate the widespread acceptance, access, and effective utilisation of digital technology across the nation.
