The Faculty of Business (FOB) had the honour of hosting a distinguished guest, Prof. Dr. Christopher Zerres from Offenburg University, Germany on 6 and 7 November 2023. The visit began with a warm welcome from Dr. Yeo Sook Fern, the Deputy Dean of Research and Industrial Collaborations at FOB, along with key members of the faculty.
During his visit, Prof. Zerres received a comprehensive briefing on the current and future strategic planning of FOB and its broader impact on MMU. The discussions exposed him to several key initiatives aimed at advancing the faculty’s goals. A significant highlight of the visit was a dynamic exchange of ideas and suggestions during a session with FOB lecturers, especially those involved in the BBA (Hons) Marketing Management program. This session focused on enhancing future collaborations and engagements between FOB and Offenburg University in various academic disciplines, fostering a fruitful academic partnership.
On the second day of his visit, Prof. Zerres had the opportunity to engage with postgraduate students at FOB, delivering a thought-provoking talk titled “The Darkside of Social Media.” The presentation stimulated a rich exchange of ideas and insights among both staff and students, encouraging them to delve deeper into the intricacies of the topic.
Later in the day, Prof. Zerres met with Dr. Siti Zakiah Melatu Samsi, the Dean of FOB, for a productive discussion. The visit culminated in a campus tour of MMU Melaka, where Prof. Zerres had the chance to explore the state-of-the-art facilities and observe the dynamic classroom engagement that characterizes MMU, further solidifying the bonds of collaboration and knowledge sharing between the two institutions.
