KSI MMU Melaka hosted its final round of the 2023 Kpop Singing Competition at Mahkota Parade on 14 October 2023. The competition received a total of 30 video entries, and only 10 participants were shortlisted for the final round. The event was officiated by Dr. Ong Sue Lyn, KSI MMU Melaka Director/ LiFE Director, and the closing speech was delivered by Ms. Kim Hee Jung, KSI MMU Melaka Manager.
A special opening choir was performed by the Melaka Cultural Centre team with renditions of “You Raise Me Up” and “Arirang”. On top of that, a mesmerizing Kpop Dance performance by Team Remix, the second-place winner of the 2022 KSI MMU Melaka Kpop Dance Competition, captivated more than 300 audience who were present throughout the event.
The finalists were evaluated by two judges: Mr. Sam Muhammad, an aspiring singer and songwriter, and Mr. Jeon Sung Kyu, a Korean artist and Director of Melaka Culture center. As a result, Judith Somiyar Raymond won first place and walked away with a Karaoke set, Sony Wireless Headphone, The Boyz Season Greetings 2023, and a plaque.
The second-place winner was Nurul Hafizah Baharuddin and she received a BT21 Microphone set, Sony Wireless Headphone, The Boyz Season Greetings 2023, and a plaque. Nurasilah Anati Tahir bagged the Popularity Award and took home Authentic Korean Snacks worth RM100 and The Boyz Season Greetings 2023. Kudos to the organising members for coordinating this successful event.
