On 8 September 2023, a group of Diploma students from the Faculty of Creative Multimedia hosted a project called “Fun Day with MAHFAA” at the Kelab Taman Tasik Cyberjaya. MAHFAA stands for Malaysia High Functioning Autism Association, and it is built to support and empower high-functioning autistic individuals of all ages.
The students conducted a two-hour workshop entitled “Creative Stop Motion”, which was led by Jasreen Nur Edlina Jamal with the guidance of the project advisors: Ms. Siti Iradah Ismail and Dr. Junita Shariza Mohd Nasir. A total of 12 students participated in the workshop, and 3 teachers from MAHFAA assisted the project team. The workshop started with an ice-breaking activity, a stop-motion introduction, a storyboard, a demonstration, a project presentation, and concluded with a closing ceremony.
Cash donations, certificates, and gifts were also distributed during the programme. The cash donation was derived from a fundraising project led by Ronney Teh Kim Ho. Our students gained invaluable experience with the challenges of education and the unique strengths and behaviours of autistic students. In conclusion, the students shared their talents, skills, and experiences and, at the same time, took part in this great initiative.
Well done!
