Multimedia University (MMU) and the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM) have strengthened their collaboration and cooperation via a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremony on 22 August 2023. Prof. Ir. Dr. Wong Hin Yong, Vice President of Academic and Innovative Learning (VP AIR) signed the pact at the MATRADE Exhibition and Convention Centre (MECC), Kuala Lumpur. The event was part of the BEM Convention 2023, which was officiated by YB Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Lingi, Minister of Work.
BEM is a statutory body constituted under the Registration of Engineers Act 1967, which facilitates the registration of engineers and regulates the professional conduct and practice of registered engineers to safeguard the safety and public interest in Malaysia. MMU also received an RM10,000 award contribution for outstanding engineering graduates for a period of five years during the event.
BEM also signed a similar MoU with 7 universities including Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN), University of Malaya (UM), and others. Among other event attendees from MMU were Dr. Ooi Chee Pun, Dean of Faculty of Engineering (FOE); Assoc. Prof. Ir. Ts. Dr. Ng Poh Kiat, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology (FET) and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Fazly Salleh Abas.
