Mathavan A/L Krishnan, our student from the Faculty of Information Science and Technology (FIST), and his team members from other universities namely Sarviesh S/O Balasundram from Universiti Malaya (UM) and Surenthar Rajamohan from Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) emerged champion in the Intervarsity Think Tank (iTANK) 2023 under Health category on 6 August 2023.
iTANK 2023 is the first and largest student-led ASEAN think-tank competition, which empowers Malaysian and ASEAN undergraduates to create digital or tangible solutions. The competition was divided into two stages with 5 categories specifically Health, Education, Waste Management, Transportation, and Environment. The participating teams from local universities submitted their video pitching and demonstrated the prototype for the first stage.
The second stage witnessed three finalists from each category compete physically at Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) on 5th August 2023. Mentored by Mr. Vincent Chan from the Faculty of Business (FOB), the team proposed Future Journey as the solution to curb stress and mental health among students that is caused by a lack of career awareness and guidance. Future Journey is an immersive gamified platform that can evaluate, analyse, recommend, and assist students to craft their career journey.
The Closing and Award Ceremony was graced by Emeritus Professor Dato’ Dr. Morshidi Sirat, the Higher Education Advisor to the Minister of Higher Education and representing the Minister, Dato’ Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin. He also presented the prizes to all winners during the event.
