A total of 34 students from the Faculty of Engineering and Technology (FET) attended a virtual Industrial Advisory Panel (IAP) sharing session on 3 June 2023. Organised by the Industrial Linkage Committee (ILC) of the faculty, the lecture sessions were conducted by Mr. Chester Tan Ching Kang, Group CEO, AFA Technologies Sdn. Bhd, Mr. Robert Pang Wei Lao, Managing Director, Inchz IOT Sdn. Bhd. and Mr. Lai Jock, Quality Assurance Manager, ON Semiconductor (M) Sdn. Bhd.
The students were exposed to the adversity quotient and how to turn the obstacles into opportunities from the industrial perspective and the introduction of the Internet of Things (IoT) industry such as IoT in manufacturing, supply chain, and smart city. Lastly, the speakers shared the process flow of Small Outline Surface Mount (SOSM) manufacturing starts from the front end, back-end assembly, and final test procedure for SOSM parts in the semiconductor industry. We hope the sessions can further enhance students’ knowledge about engineering applications in IoT and in the semiconductor industry.
