The Faculty of Engineering and Technology (FET) held a virtual FET Alumni Sharing Session on 13 June 2023. The invited speaker, Ts. Dr. Mohd Sabri Minhat is an FET alumnus who graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons.) Electronics majoring in Robotics and Automation in 2009. Dr. Sabri is currently a Research Officer at the Malaysian Nuclear Agency and he has 13 years of working experience in Control and Instrumentation systems.
Dr. Sabri started his talk with an overview of the history of the worldwide nuclear research reactor. He shared information with the 30 participants on how the instrumentation and control (I&C) systems play a vital role in nuclear reactor operations. He also explained the Act & Regulation and safety review audits procedures of reactor operations. Apart from that, Dr. Sabri shared his personal experience working as an engineer before transitioning to become a research officer at Malaysian Nuclear Agency.
He encouraged engineering students to pursue postgraduate studies for better career growth opportunities. At the end of the session, Dr. Sabri extended his invitation to all FET engineering students to visit Malaysian Nuclear Agency or to have collaboration in terms of Final Year Projects or Industrial Training.
