On 23 June 2023, an informative event took place at the Faculty of Business (FOB) organised by Dr. Akhma Adlin and Ms. Saleha Abdullah. They extended an invitation to Mr. Clement, a representative from the Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants (MICPA), to deliver a talk to the Bachelor of Accounting students. The purpose of this talk was to provide students with valuable insights into the accounting profession and the journey to obtain the MICPA qualification.
It’s worth noting that MICPA is not the sole accounting professional body based in Malaysia; it also collaborates with Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand through a joint program known as MICPA x CA ANZ Programme. Graduates of this programme have the unique advantage of obtaining membership with both MICPA and CA ANZ, entitling them to use two professional titles: Certified Public Accountant, Malaysia (CPA [M]) and Chartered Accountant Australia and New Zealand (CA [ANZ]).
The event drew the attendance of approximately 170 accounting students from the second and third year cohorts. During the program, students had the opportunity to gain insights into the MICPA qualification journey and also received updates on the latest developments within the accounting profession. This event served as a platform for students to enhance their understanding of the accounting field and gain exposure to valuable industry knowledge.
