A total of 37 engineering students from the Faculty of Engineering and Technology (FET) gained an opportunity to interact with industry and know more about its environment through a visit to Cohu Malaysia Sdn Bhd factory in Ayer Keroh, Malacca recently. Organised by the Industry Linkage Committee of the faculty, the session started with a briefing about the background and the business culture of Cohu Malaysia Sdn Bhd.
Cohu is a leading supplier of semiconductor test and inspection handlers, micro-electromechanical system (MEMS) test modules, test contactors, thermal sub-systems and semiconductor automated test equipment used by global semiconductor and electronics manufacturers and semiconductor test subcontractors. Then, the session continued with a factory tour by Cohu engineers. The students were exposed to see the microchip testing machine, turret platform for semiconductor test and test handler machine for MEMS. It is hoped that this visit helps the students to get more exposure to the current work condition of the industry.
