In supporting the event initiated by the International Collaboration and Engagement (ICE), the Faculty of Business (FOB) had the honour of hosting a delegation from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO), Russia at the Melaka campus on 17 May 2023. Dr. Siti Zakiah Melatu Samsi, Dean of FOB extended a warm welcome to the delegation, consisting of three staff members and six students from MGIMO. Dr. Siti also facilitated a series of engaging activities during the visit.
On top of that, Dr. Subhachini Subramaniam delivered a compelling presentation on Malaysia’s economic landscape and potential business opportunities. The delegation received a comprehensive understanding of Malaysia’s economic growth, key industries, investment climate, and international collaboration opportunities. An interactive case study discussion was also conducted between MGIML and FOB students during the visit. The case study focused on conducting a PESTEL analysis of a Russian start-up business operating in Malaysia.
Through this collaborative activity, the students exchanged their ideas and applied their knowledge in a practical context. As a result, the students gained a deeper understanding of the external factors influencing business operations as well as the challenges and opportunities faced by foreign businesses entering the Malaysian market. All in all, the visit served as an excellent opportunity to strengthen ties as well as to foster academic and cultural exchanges between the two institutions. It is also becoming a stepping stone towards a future of fruitful academic and research collaborations between FOB and MGIMO, benefiting students, faculty, and both institutions as a whole.
