A group of students from MMU Business Society (MUBS) participated in a study visit to the Malaysian Houses of Parliament on 14 March 2023. Organised by Junior Chamber International, Malaca City Entrepreneur (JCIMCE), the student group which was led by Jeffrey Quek Shue Yew from the Faculty of Business (FOB) had the opportunity to sit in the public gallery of the House of Representatives and experienced the proceedings.
The students also were given a guided tour of the place by Ms. Alethea Wong, the officer who is in charge of the Speaker’s Office at the Parliament House. The students were also very excited to visit “The Royal Stairs” or “Once a Year Stairs”, which is exclusively accessible to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong and his Consort when they come to the House of Representatives to officially open the new session of Parliament. Several interactive activities were also conducted during the half-day session and the students learned a lot about the Parliament. This visit has surely benefitted the students in gaining real experience and understanding of the democracy concept.
