Jeffrey Quek Shue Yew, our final year student from the Faculty of Business (FOB) was appointed as Conference Coordinator for Best Diplomats Malaysia – The Diplomatic Simulation by the Board of United Nation (UN) from 27th to 29th January 2023. The conference was held at Sunway Putra Hotel, Kuala Lumpur Malaysia.
With its theme, “Diplomacy Beyond Barriers”, the event was participated by a total of 150 delegates across the world namely from Bangladesh, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Democratic Republic of Congo, East Timor, Eswatini, Ethiopia, Fiji, Ghana, Grenada, Guinea Conarky, India, Indonesia, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, Pakistan, Philippines, Sierra Leone, Somalia, South Africa, Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, Uzbekistan, and Zimbabwe.
Best Diplomats is a Diplomatic Stimulation Organiser headquartered in New York served as an avenue for leaders of tomorrow to exhibit their speech and diplomatic skill. The conference helped to inculcate the skills of diplomacy, leadership and public policy drafting among aspiring future diplomats. The conference also featured many activities including International Grand Symposium where eminent diplomats and ambassadors delivered to the audience.
The participants also had the opportunity to do a roleplay as diplomats and representatives during the Diplomatic Sessions, which helped the participants to present and justify their viewpoints and practise their oratory skills. Best Diplomats also arranged a cultural day where the participants wore their cultural dresses and made performances during the closing ceremony. This new experience helped the delegates to build their leadership skills and self-confidence in pursuing their future pathway.
