On 10 January 2023, more than 20 Mechanical Engineering students from the Faculty of Engineering and Technology (FET) attended the virtual sharing session on ‘The James Dyson Award 2023’. Organised by Industrial Linkage Committee (ILC) of the faculty, the sharing session was conducted by Mr Khor Jun Bin from Dyson Company. Mr Khor is the Junior Software Engineer at Dyson and he possesses extensive experience in software engineering.
Mr Khor explained about the James Dyson Award (JDA), how to participate or enter the competition and what makes a good entry. The James Dyson Award (JDA) is an international design award that celebrates, encourages, and inspires the next generation of design engineers. It is open to current and recent design engineering students, and it is run by the James Dyson Foundation. The national winner of the competition will have the chance to win a cash prize of RM27,900. At the end of the session, the speakers shared the link entry with the audience. It is hoped that the session will give a motivation for our students to enter the competition with their creative inventions.
