MMU was awarded ‘Anugerah Majikan Sektor Awam dan Swasta 2021’ (Highest Zakat Contribution) under the Institute Higher Learning category at Hotel LaCrista, Melaka on 21st September 2022. Dr. Mohd Rizal Abdul Razak, Melaka Campus Director represented the university to receive the award from Yang Amat Berhormat (YAB) Datuk Seri Utama Haji Sulaiman Bin Md Ali, Chief Minister of Melaka during the event.
Organised by Zakat Melaka, the award recognises government and private institutions with zakat contributions through the salary deduction scheme amongst Muslim employees. There were 19 award recipients that were honoured during the event including Majlis Keselamatan Negara Negeri Melaka, Telekom Berhad, Maybank Malaysia Berhad and others.
Also attending the event were Yang Berhormat (YB) Datuk Wira Zaidi Johari, Melaka State Secretary; YB Datuk Salhah Salleh, State Financial Officer; YB Tuan Zahari Abd Kalil, Zakat Melaka Deputy Chairman, and other honourable guests.
