A group of final-year Bachelor of Accounting students from the Faculty of Business (FOB) partook in a virtual career talk, recently. The talk was conducted by Mr. Sherman Yew, Assurance Manager at Ernst & Young PLT (EY), which highlighted building a career in the audit field. Mr. Sherman also shared his experience, challenges as well as ways to overcome and manage it all.
Mr. Sherman is a professional accountant with seven years of experience in providing audit services and a core team member of an oil and gas client, where he is responsible for coordinating and monitoring work performed by EY teams based in other several countries in relation to Internal Controls over Financial Reporting (ICFR) for SOX compliance purposes. During the talk, participants were encouraged to apply for a position at EY and to create future success with the company. It is hoped that more similar events could be conducted for students to gain a deeper understanding of the industry’s perspective.
