Our students, Dashania Elvira Gregory from the Faculty of Business (FOB), Yogha Ruepini a/p Kanagalingam, EE Suan and Clarice Lee Kah Yee from the Faculty of Law (MMU Melaka team) will represent MMU at the final round of myIMPACT: Intervarsity Malaysia Public Policy Advocacy Competition 2022 on 7th August 2022 at Sunway University. Mentored by Mr. Vincent Chan, a lecturer from FOB, the Melaka team will pitch their policy titled “Membina Masa Hadapan yang SEMPORNA”.
This national competition aims to stimulate young minds in formulating and proposing credible policy recommendations related to environmental protection and climate action which is aligned with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). MMU sent two teams; MMU Melaka team and PENTAS MMU Cyberjaya team represented by Fatimah Yasmin Tajudin from the Faculty of Engineering (FOE), Yang Fatin Syahira Mior Mohammad Hairol (FOE), Allysha Amir from the Faculty of Management (FOM) and Afiq Danial Mohd Sukri from the Faculty of Information Science and Technology.
Both teams were shortlisted as the Top 16 in the semi-final round, where the contestants were given five minutes to pitch their policy followed by a 10-minute Q&A session. As a result, only 5 teams from different varsities including Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP), Universiti Malaya (UM), Sunway University and Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) are eligible to compete in the Grand Finale of the myIMPACT competition.
