Dr. Ridzwan Bakar, our academic staff from the Faculty of Management (FOM) was invited by the government of Brunei Darussalam as a guest of honour in a two-day event in Brunei Darussalam, recently. As a wakaf and Islamic Social Finance resource person in Malaysia, Dr. Ridzwan delivered his keynote talk entitled “Corporate Wakaf: Model, Governance and Implementation Challenges”. He continued to lead the workshop on Wakaf Korporat Strategic Direction during the second day of the conference.
The workshop was attended by more than 300 participants including policymakers, bankers, Islamic Religious authorities, Brunei Darussalam Central Bank (BDCB), representatives of various government agencies, practitioners, and academics. The event was also supported by the attendance of Senior Ministers, Cabinet Members, Malaysian ambassadors to Brunei, and Senior government officials. Dr. Ridzwan also conducted several discussions with a few agencies in Brunei to explore further collaboration with MMU as well as to promote our academic programmes.
