Assoc. Prof Dr Mardeni Roslee, Deputy Director from Research Management Centre (RMC) and the Faculty of Engineering (FOE) was honoured to be awarded the “IEEE Malaysia Section Outstanding Volunteer Award” recently. The official ceremony was recently held physically at the 32nd IEEE Malaysia Annual General Meeting at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, Kuala Lumpur.
There were 38 evaluators from Region10, regional section chairs and Malaysia Section which received 202 individual evaluations. The prestigious award is honoured given based on his exemplary leadership of the IEEE Malaysia Communication Society and Vehicular Technology Society Chapter for (2019-2020 Chair and 2021 Past Chair/Advisor). He successfully led the Malaysia Chapter and was awarded the “IEEE Malaysia Outstanding Large Chapter Award” for 2 consecutive years, 2019 and 2020. He was also invited as Keynote Speaker for more than ten International Conferences worldwide and served as General Chair for five International Conferences. He has been invited by IEEE international conference as an Invited Speaker worldwide in the field of Wireless Communication in Thailand, China, Australia, Korea, Indonesia, Singapore, Japan, French, the United Kingdom, Spain, Canada, New Zealand, Romania, India and Turkey. In 2020, he was awarded the Top Research Scientist in Malaysia by the Academy of Science Malaysia (ASM).
The IEEE Malaysia Section Outstanding Volunteer Award aims to recognise volunteers who have made outstanding contributions to a particular Chapter, IEEE Malaysia Section and Region. Among others, the candidate for the award needs to demonstrate administrative abilities and leadership skills, carry out new ideas, development of projects which have significantly benefited the Chapter, Section and Region. The award recognised him for the highest excellence towards strengthening the implementation of the chapter performance as well as an outstanding contribution in furthering the Engineering professional association which is internationally recognized. Furthermore, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mardeni was one of the only recipients of this prestigious IEEE Malaysia Section award this year in Malaysia.
