On 7 March 2022, a meet and greet session was held between Multimedia University (MMU) and Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC)in Cyberjaya. MMU was represented by Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mazliham Mohd Su’ud, the President and faculty deans, while MDEC was represented by the newly-appointed Chief of Executive Officer, Ybhg. Ts. Ts. Mahadhir Aziz as well as Talent Development and PDTI team.
The event also served as a platform for both parties to discuss the Talent Development Programme or Initiative. MDEC presented their programme and strategies on Talent Development, especially the key initiative on Premier Digital Tech Universities and Polytechnics (PDTI). The initiative has successfully produced high-quality graduates for digital tech-based high-value jobs, via cutting-edge research and education policies, strong industry linkages, and career development and placement services. Currently, there are 11 universities of PDTI and MMU is one of them.
On the other hand, MMU also shared about its initiatives to be industry-led research universities. One aspect is to integrate the Industry Cadetship programme into students’ academic programme/studies in an effort to better prepare students’ knowledge and skills upon their graduation. It also helps the students to be equipped with the demand of knowledge and skills by the industry. The discussion also raised some potential collaboration between MMU and MDEC to work together for the aspiration of digital economy and innovation for the nation. Also attending the event were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ervina Mohd Noor, Director of Industrial Collaborations and Engagement (ICEC) and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Koo Ah Choo, Deputy Director of ICEC.
